On behalf of Sheridan College I would like to extend our deepest concern and condolences towards those of who lost someone in the terrible earthquakes that hit China. We understand that this is a very difficult time for those of you who may currently be studying in Canada, and we would like for you to know that Sheridan does provide a full range of counselling services if you feel that you would like to ever speak with someone.

Once again, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

This is just a very quick message to those of you who have already signed up for the International Niagara Falls trip, or those of you who have not yet signed up.

If you have not signed up as yet I regret to inform you that there is no longer any space available on our bus.

However, if you have signed up and are unable to attend I would ask that you please contact the International center ASAP (As Soon As Possible) to inform us so that we may allow someone else to take your seat.

YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A $1000.00 TUITION AWARD

The Student Union and International Center have partnered together to bring to you the “Student Leadership Award“. This award can grant students up to $1000.00 towards their tuition, and there is a total of $5000.00 being awarded. For more information you can log onto thewhere you will find the Awards Website award listed third from the bottom of the page.

The basic requirements for this award are:

• Demonstrate a capacity for leadership
• Proven academic proficiency to succeed in program of study
• Must have a GPA of 3.5 or greater by August 28, 2008
• Demonstrated financial need
• Full time at Sheridan
• Applicant must have completed at least one full year at Sheridan College and will RETURN to enter into 2nd, 3rd, 4th year of the same program
• Recipients can not be in receipt of a tuition award for the 2008-09 academic year

The Development and Partnerships Office and the Awards Office is pleased to announce the call for submissions for the Lotto Share Scholarship!

Background:

This scholarship was established in 2005 by the generosity of the Sheridan College faculty, staff and students through the purchase of Lotto $hare tickets.  To date, 15 outstanding Sheridan students were recipients of the Lotto Share scholarship! The Lotto $hare Scholarship Committee would like to recognize the outstanding efforts and contributions made by all students who were enrolled during 2006 – 2007 academic year. Lotto Share Scholarship is valued at $1,250.00 for full time returning students and up to $500.00 for continuing education students.

·       4 domestic students from the School of Business

·       4 domestic students from the School of Community & Liberal Studies

·       4 domestic students from the School of Applied Computing and Engineering Sciences

·       4 domestic students from the School of Animation, Arts and Design

·       1 International Student

·       1 Continuing Education Student

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Full time enrollment in their program of study

•  Cumulative GPA greater than 3.0

• Has demonstrated a significant contribution to the Sheridan community and to their program (i.e. Deans Council, Student Union, Peer Mentor, School Student Representative)

• Submissions must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a Sheridan faculty member

Deadline for submission:  Monday November 26, 2007

A “pot-luck” dinner is a Canadian tradition where people bring food to share with each other.

There will be free bus transportation from Davis Campus to Trafalgar Campus.  If you want to take the bus, you need to come into the International Centre to sign up, or email phuong.huynh3@sheridanc.on.ca by Tuesday, November 13, 4:30pm.  The bus will pick up people from the Davis Campus on Wednesday, November 14 at 5:30pm.

It will be a fun evening of food, music, games, activities, prizes, and cultural displays.  Please bring a dish of your favourite food to share.  If you have a national costume, it would be wonderful if you could wear it to the Pot-Luck Dinner, so that people could see clothes from other countries.
